Niall is from Mallow in Co Cork and is dairy farming alongside his parents, his wife Ann and family. He runs a Spring calving herd with a strong focus on grassland management. The herd of cows are predominately Jersey Friesian crossbred. In 2010, Niall graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Masters in Strategic Management and Planning from Smurfit Business School. He worked for Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC) Ireland marketing New Zealand genetics to Irish farmers for a number of years. In 2017, Niall received a Nuffield scholarship where he studied nutrient management and ways to improve water quality.
Niall has also worked in banking where he was employed by Ulster Bank as part of their agri lending team for a number of years.
Through Nuffield and his various roles, Niall has been afforded the opportunity to travel extensively in New Zealand, Europe, Africa and South America where he has gained an insight to pasture based dairy farming.
Niall is dairy farming full time since 2021 and is a member of two discussion groups.
