Pat Gleeson

Reared on a dairy farm outside Limerick City. Pat attended UCD and qualified with a B. Ag.Sc in 1960. Following this he joined the Agricultural Institute in the 1960 and worked with the organisation for 41 years, mainly at Moorepark, Fermoy, in Animal Nutrition. He studied at Cornwall University, US for 1965-1967 and attained an M.S Degree. In the early 1980s he was appointed Head of the Dairy Husbandry Department at Moorepark. On the merger of the Agricultural Institute & ACOT Pat was appointed Programme Manager for the Munster Region, which included Agri Research at Moorepark and the Advisory& Education Services in Munster. In 1994 Pat was appointed as Programme Director of Research in Teagasc until he retired in 2001. Pat was a long serving council member of the IGA during the 1970’s & 1980’s.
